 Sorrow of an Angel

(Yay Angel of Music! Anywho... It takes place after the tragedy. This is what I used as my rp sample post.)

Erik stared forlornly at the wreckage of his lair. The mirrors that had once lined his shadowed domain, lay in pieces where he had left them. Fortunately, the fire had not spread to the foundation of the Opera where he lived.

It had been three years since Christine had abandoned him, to marry the wealthy and handsome Raoul de Chagny. Erik, with his mutilated face and life of darkness could offer her nothing of value, but his passion and his music. In comparison to the wealthy Viscount, his gifts were meaningless and he was thrown aside, like a toy that no longer provides amusement.

He had finally returned to his Opera House, his home. It had been rebuilt and most of his passageways had been sealed off. He could make new ones and was not in the least perturbed by this. But his loneliness had begun to eat away at him.

For the time he knew Christine, he had truly thought that he need not suffer alone in the dark. But she had left him. He with his disfigured face could never hope to compare with the young and handsome Viscount.

"Why?" he asked desparingly, "Why did you leave me to suffer in my solitude? I shall never truly know love..."

Erik walked over and sullenly began to pick up the pieces of broken glass, not caring whether or not he cut his hand. After this task was competed he sat down at his organ bench and composed a sheet of music. Once it was finished, he played it as best as his cut fingers would allow. If someone had heard it, they would have described it as all the emotions of the heart and soul incarnate.

"I only wihsed to be someone like everyone else," he said softly, "Is there any reason to continue my miserable existance? Why not end it now?'

He began to sob softly.

Raoul had come of course of his own accord, back down into that dungeon of darkness. The abyss to a point of no return, plunging deeper and deeper. The renovations of the new Opera Populaire had been done easily, swiftly, and without remorse. All things that held a meager reminder of the event of the Opera Ghost had been removed and replaced. Even the name had been changed to the Paris Opera House in hopes of hiding the dark history.

It could be hidden from all, except those whom had taken part. Those who had bared witness, suffered, and interacted like pawns in the Opera Ghost's game. They would never forget, and most of all HE would never forget. The Viscount De'Chagny had for the first time felt pity, for that being, that creature that man.

When Christine had presented him with the local paper that stated so simply, that: "Erik is dead"

For the life of him he could not accept, and Christine seemed so distraught yet so serene. Had she come to terms with her decision? Raoul could not answer for her, but he knew that he could not come to terms. A portion of him longed for that Creature that had shown them both mercy, a mercy that being had thought himself incapable of.

Deeper still...ever deeper. Until the sound of that organ began to play, ringing from the cellars higher and higher reaching for the Heavens. So..it wasn’t true the man still lived, the sound alone should've been consolation enough. Yet the young man moved down until he came to the lake, a lake he had crossed to save his love, and crossed again when he had been given her.

Raoul made his way around, eyeing the placid water with sad emerald eyes. Here he had lost a brother, yet here he had been given a new life of happiness. It was the soft words that caught his attention from the darkness followed by the sobs of a torture, and broken soul. Was he mad to return here? He was...but something pulled his legs further until the weeping man came into sight.

So disheveled and bedraggled compared to the properly dressed male of that night. Clearing his throat Raoul spoke, from his own corner of darkness in answer to the man's words. How odd that Raoul should think him a man, when not so long ago he had simply been a monster.

"As we all wish to be accepted by everyone else Monsieur. And yes I give a reason why you of all persons should continue your miserable existence." Raoul said boldly, almost feeling calm and at ease. "You are what I am not Erik, and I am what you are not. You are the beauty of music, where as I am the power of nobility. We both offer Christine what she desires, and yet she cannot completely have but she does have something that we both gave equally." The Viscount spoke, saying the last softly, unhurried.

"Our hearts.."

Erik turned to face the man that had disturbed his solitude. Although he recognized the voice at once, he had to see for himself. It was the viscount, the man that had taken his love from him. Why had he returned?

"Have you returned to torment me?" he asked of him, "Could you not have simply accepted my death? Would it have been so hard?"

(Sorry for the shortness of the post. It will be easier once we get going a bit.)

Auroa never quite understood what was so frightening about this place, since they had to change it's name. But, then again she did noticed people talking about a Phantom lurking arounf the Opera House. So many years she has stayed there wishing to meet this strange man....and listen to his wonderful music. Now coming back to it has jogged up memories she wished she had fogotten. Auroa came to the same dressing room that Christine showed her when she was little. Christine always allowed her to sit in there and soak up the lyrics that she practied with, and sometimes Auroa would even sing with her...though not as good. Auroa then remembered a music paper she shoved in her pocket before she came here, one Christine had given her to practice with. Auroa then noticed a mirror whom looking within it looked a little odd. Oh well, Auroa sat down on a chair making sure not to make enough noise
and started sing the lyrics that were sung to here years ago...thinking the phantom would here.

(I hope I can join you on this rp)
